Residential

Waking Hours Curriculum

Residential Education at Stone Bay School focuses on a fully inclusive Waking Hours Curriculum for our pupils Our aim is always to provide the highest possible quality of care that we feel our children and young people deserve and give them the opportunities to develop both socially and emotionally via our highly individualised residential education curriculum.

We provide 24 hour support for all our pupils and the learning opportunities are not just limited to the classrooms. We offer a well-structured Waking Hours Curriculum. The activities offered to pupils are listed below.

Activities

Residential activities take place at the end of the school day for boarding pupils.
We offer flat based activities which are designed to help each young person develop their own independent living and social skills. These include meal preparation, laying the table and keeping their bedrooms and communal areas clean and tidy.

A wide range of activities are offered within the school environment, such as sports, Jacuzzi sessions, sensory room sessions, IT time, soft play room, art and craft opportunities and many more depending upon the seasons and weather.

Out of school, our pupils access coastal walks, and we have our own beach hut on Stone Bay beach which is well-used for after school picnics.

Pupils can also access the school allotment and spend time there growing and maintaining the plants.

We also access visits to the cinema, boating trips, visits to English Heritage sites, local zoos and wildlife centres, Folkestone dry Ski slope, local bowling alley and many more activities.

"All our residential Pupils have detailed Individual Care Plans, Individual Health Care Plans as well as Individual WELLBEING Plans and Risk Assessments (if required). These documents help us to ensure that we are working together for the most consistent approach."
