SandPlay Therapy
Sandplay is a non-directive therapeutic technique that provides a unique and powerful way for children and young people to express their inner thoughts and feelings.
During weekly one-to-one sessions, the child uses miniature figures and sometimes water in a designated sand tray to create ‘worlds’ in the sand. This gives them a safe, private space to play out difficult emotions, confusing thoughts, or internal conflicts that might be too challenging to talk about verbally.
The child's creation in the sand becomes a solid, visual picture of what they are struggling with, which helps them work through it. This process supports emotional healing and helps them understand themselves better. Importantly, the therapist doesn't tell them what to do—they simply watch and support the child, making them feel secure throughout the process.
Our SandPlay practitioner is Nicki Dormer.

Nicki is highly motivated to make a difference and achieve the best outcomes for our pupils. She finds working with children using this approach incredibly rewarding because she gets to witness profound, positive changes in children’s lives.
