Meet Jalak: Senior Specialist Educational Psychologist

Jalak is our Senior Specialist Educational Psychologist, working with us at Stone Bay School two days a week. Put simply, Educational Psychologists (EPs) use their knowledge of how people think, learn, and feel to help children, young people, and the dedicated adults who support them. Their goal is always to make learning and life at school the best it can be!
Jalak is highly experienced, having worked as an EP for over 20 years. Her training covers crucial areas, including:
- How children develop and grow.
- The science behind learning and teaching.
- Supporting emotional well-being.
- Understanding the psychology of children with additional educational needs.
She has successfully supported students across all age ranges, from early years right up through further education.
School-Wide Impact
JP is also the Clinical Lead for our entire Therapy Team. Her work encompasses the whole School and Residential teams and provides input across universal, targeted, and specialist levels of provision.
Her involvement includes a range of essential tasks, such as:
- Supporting our understanding of pupils by observing them in class and gathering information from key adults who know them well.
- Meeting with school and residential staff, along with other members of the Therapy team, to agree the best way to support pupils.
- Meeting with the Therapy team to discuss pupils who have been referred for therapeutic support.
- Working with senior leaders on strategies that benefit the whole school.
- Providing clinical supervision and training.
